M. K. Sims is a native New Jersey artist. She graduated from the Newark School of Fine & Industrial Art and began her career in commercial art before serving in the Women's Army Corps during World War II.
During the war she worked as a graphic artist in the Signal Corps in London and Paris. While serving overseas she met her future husband, Ed Sims, a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division.
After the war they settled in Marion's hometown where she raised her family before returning to her artistic ambitions. Her creative journey became one of constant reinvention, rehabilitation and artistic experimentation.
Rejecting the expectations of the traditional art establishment, Sims developed a unique body of work using unconventional materials, performance art, and evolving installations that continue to change over time.
